The brief we set ourselves
Aambra is a Levantine restaurant set inside a heritage church — fire, ritual, stained glass, a century of stone. A standard restaurant template flattens exactly what makes it singular. The brief we set ourselves: build a site that feels like stepping into the room at dusk, and turns that feeling into a reservation — without the experience ever costing performance.
The build
Light as the narrative. As you scroll, the day moves dawn → noon → golden → dusk and stained-glass colour falls across the space the way it does in the real church. Built on the venue's own photography and typography, with an inline SevenRooms booking flow and a sound-on / silent threshold instead of autoplay — and designed to wire into a CMS mirroring their social, so the brand keeps living after launch.
What's in the preview
- Self-initiated concept built to pitch the venue — not a commissioned engagement
- Scroll-driven time-of-day light system + WebGL stained-glass light cast across the room
- Inline reservations (SevenRooms), the venue's real photography (ph. Vincent Yeung) and own type
- Architected to connect to a CMS that mirrors their Instagram — a brand that updates itself
